RJS Eligibility Criteria 2024 (Rajasthan Judiciary Exam)

The Rajasthan High Court conducts the Rajasthan Judiciary Exam. The online notification is released on the official website www.hcraj.nic.in for the post of Civil Judge in the Rajasthan High Court.

Age Relaxation for the RJS Exam

The Rajasthan High Court provides age relaxation in the Rajasthan Judiciary exam to the SC, ST, OBC, or EWS category of Rajasthan or women and physically handicapped categories. However, age relaxation varies depending on the category.

Educational Qualification for RJS Exam

  • To apply for the RJS Exam, aspirants must hold a Bachelor of Laws (Professional) from any Indian University.
  • Aspirants must be either enrolled or recognized as an Advocate per the Advocates Act of 1961 provisions.
  • Aspirants appearing for the final semester of LLB can apply for the exam. But, acquiring the requisite educational qualification before the Mains exam would be best. They have to submit the proof to the Office of Registrar (Examination), Rajasthan High Court, within 7 days of holding the mains exam.

Nationality

As per the Rajasthan Judiciary eligibility criteria, candidates applying for the Civil Judge post in the Rajasthan High Court must hold Indian citizenship.

Character Certificate

  • To be eligible for the Civil Judge position in the Rajasthan High Court, candidates must possess good character without any criminal records or cases pending against them.
  • One of the eligibility criteria of the Rajasthan Judiciary is that candidates must have a clean record. They should not have been engaged in any unlawful or anti-social activities.
  • Candidates must require three character certificates: one issued by the college dean or the principal or academic officer of the institute where they last studied—and two other character certificates from the responsible persons unrelated to them.

Rajasthan Judiciary Language Eligibility 

Aspirants should have an in-depth understanding of Hindi written in Devanagari script and Rajasthani accent and the social customs.

RJS Eligibility Number of Attempts

There’s no limit on the number of attempts for the RJS exam. Test takers can apply for the exam multiple times if they fulfill the eligibility criteria.

Physical Fitness Eligibility for Rajasthan Judicial Services

  • Candidates are appointed Service members unless they have good mental and physical health. Also, they must be free from defects likely to interfere with the orderly performance of their duties as a Service member.
  • Candidates are appointed to the service unless they are fit by a medical authority advised by the Government.

Minimum Marks Eligibility for RJS Mains Exam

  • Aspirants should score at least 45% marks in the preliminary examination belonging to the general category to qualify for the Mains examination.
  • For the SC/ ST category, a minimum of 40% is a must.

RJS Exam Eligibility Criteria for Interview

  • To qualify for the interview, candidates in the general category must secure 45% marks in all law papers and 40% in aggregate in the Mains exam. 
  • Candidates must secure 30% marks in all law papers and 35% in aggregate in the Mains exam belonging to the SC/ST category.
  • It is compulsory to appear in each written test paper before the Interview Board for viva voce. Candidates failing to appear in written papers or before the board for viva voce aren’t recommended for appointment.

Rules for Qualification in the RJS Exam

Candidates are disqualified for appointment to the service or for continuing in the service if-

  • Have more than one spouse living.
  • Removed or dismissed from service by any High Court, Government Statutory Body, or local authority.
  • Convicted of an offense. This involves moral turpitude or permanently disqualified or debarred by a High Court, the Union Public Service Commission, or a State Public Service Commission from attending any examination or interview.
  • While being an advocate, caught guilty of professional misconduct under the Advocates Act, 1961 provisions (Central Act 25 of 1961) or any other law.
  • Have more than 2 children on or after the commencement date of the RJS Rules, 2010.
  • Have only a single child from an earlier delivery. If more than one child is born from a single subsequent delivery is regarded as one entity.
  • Accepted dowry at the time of his marriage.
