RJS Exam Pattern 2024

The Rajasthan Judicial Services exam is conducted in 3 stages: Preliminary, Mains, and Viva voce. The details regarding the exam stages are as follows:

Preliminary Examination

  • The Prelims question paper is of Objective-type.
  • There are 100 questions for 1 mark each with no negative marking.
  • The time duration is 2 hours.
  • Candidates qualifying for the Prelims exams can appear for the Mains examination.

Mains Examination

  • The Main exam consists of 4 papers & is conducted in descriptive answer writing format. 3 hours are allotted for the first two papers and 2 hours for the last two.
  • The four question papers of the Mains exam consist of the following:
  1. Law Paper I: Civil Law (100 Marks)
  2. Law Paper II: Criminal Law (100 Marks)
  3. Paper III: Hindi Essay (50 Marks)
  4. Paper IV: English Essay (50 Marks)

Interview Round

Test takers who clear the Mains exams are called for an interview round. This round constitutes 35 marks. The merit is based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the Mains examination & viva voce.

Interview (35 Marks)

While interviewing a candidate, the suitability for employment in the service is tested regarding the candidate’s record at the school, college, and University and character, personality, address, and physique. The questions asked may be general and not necessarily academic or legal. 

The candidates are also asked questions to test their general knowledge, including knowledge of current affairs and present-day problems. Marks are awarded for the candidate’s proficiency in the Rajasthani dialects and the knowledge of the social customs of Rajasthan. The marks awarded are added to the marks obtained in the written test by every candidate. 

Minimum Qualifying Marks for Rajasthan Judiciary
