CLAT Syllabus 2025 (Subject-Wise)

The consortium of NLUs officially releases the syllabus of CLAT every year for aspirants. The syllabus includes details of subjects and topics that students should study during CLAT preparation.

1. CLAT English Syllabus 2025

This section tests your vocabulary and grammatical knowledge. You will get passages with a minimum word count of 400 and have to answer questions based on them. 

The sources of the passages are fictional and non-fictional writings of historical and contemporary significance. You must showcase your language and comprehension skills by answering a few objective-type questions to score high marks in this section. 

The CLAT English syllabus can be divided into three main categories:

2. CLAT General Knowledge (GK) Syllabus 2025

The General Knowledge section focuses on the conceptual understanding of aspirants rather than rote learning. Therefore, candidates need to study in detail while preparing for this section. 

The best way is to read newspapers daily, primarily The Hindu and The Economic Times. There will be questions based on passages extracted from news, journals, and non-fiction write-ups. 

There is no particular CLAT GK syllabus, and candidates must study beyond books. They need to stay updated with the latest national and international news.

3. CLAT Legal Reaoning Syllabus 2025

Legal Reasoning is another critical section of CLAT with questions that evaluate candidates’ understanding of law and awareness of legal issues. It will have passages related to factual events and circumstances, and the questions will include public policy, moral philosophical inquiries, and legal solutions. 

Candidates need not be well-versed in legal terminology, but awareness of contemporary legal and moral issues will come in handy.

4. CLAT Logical Reasoning Syllabus 2025

To prepare for Logical Reasoning and crack this section, memorising concepts is not enough. You need to be consistent with practice to be thorough and confident while answering questions. Make sure to solve sample papers and give 100+ CLAT mock tests. 

The section will have a few passages of around 300-350 words each, followed by objective-type questions that require you to:

Preparing for the CLAT Mathematics section requires a lot of practice to hone problem-solving skills. It is a non-comprehensive-based section comprising questions based on graphs, propositions, diagrammatic representation, and word problems. 

Candidates are advised to solve CLAT mock test series and previous year’s papers to understand common types of questions asked in the section. 

Apart from applying mathematical operations, aspirants will have to:

CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates planning to appear for the exam must know the CLAT eligibility criteria 2025. At the time of admission and counselling, participating NLUs will check whether shortlisted candidates meet the required criteria or not. If failed to fulfil requirements, one might lose their right to admission.
