Apart from the attractive salaries, judges are entitled to various perks from the government, such as:

Government Residence and Maintenance

The minimal plinth area for the residential accommodation is as follows:
District Judge: 2500 sq. ft.
Civil Judge: 2000 sq. ft.
A furniture grant of ₹ 1.25 lakhs is provided every 5 years to the judicial officers subject to the production of proof of purchase.
For residence maintenance, the state government allot each judicial officer sufficient financial funds annually per rank.
Additional annual funds up to ₹ 10 lakhs District Judge(DJ) are allocated for the officer’s general maintenance & staff residences and court.
The Principal DJ, CJMs, and Family Judge are generally provided with earmarked bungalows (6BHK). But if not available for some reason, then 5BHK flats minimum. Even in most states, the SDJM, senior ADJs, and Special Court Judges are also provided either bungalows or 5BHK flats, which are earmarked (decided by respective HC or subject to bungalow availability).

Security

Home guards (without guns) are given to all Judicial officers from J.Division to DJ level (Except Probationers) at their residence.
24×7 gunmen and home guards for Judicial officers overlooking criminal cases such as Family Judge or ADJs.
PDJs & CJM are provided with two gunmen and 4/5 home arms guards at the residence.
The PDJs & CJMs are also provided with escort vehicles from the District / Area Police Headquarters for inspection or other duty purposes at various districts.

Conveyance

PDJ, Family Judge, CJM, and ADJ are offered independent sedan vehicles.
PDJs are provided with 3 vehicles; some state 4– SUVs for official purposes to terrain places, a Sedan for the office of PDJ, and another car for other official work.
PDJ, Family Judge, CJM, and ADJ are provided with independent sedan vehicles.
The rest of the judicial officers can avail themselves of the fuel allowances & soft loans to purchase their desired vehicle.
Courts may provide 1 sedan car as a Pool Car for 3 officers.

Personal Assistance/Peons/Home Guard

One office clerk and one bench clerk are assigned to each judicial officer.
One of these clerks will also be the judicial officer’s personal assistant(PA).
The PDJs, CJMs & some key judges are provided with extra clerks specifically appointed as PAs.
In Maharashtra, Karnataka, and others, there is a separate home orderly peon (24 x 7) and office orderly peon provided.
PDJs, CJMs & some critical judges are provided with separate residence orderly peons, cook, and office peons.
The Second National Judicial Pay Commission recommended all the judges engage one separate home orderly peon-cum-cook at their residence on government expenditure.

Electricity and Water Charges

Civil Judges (both divisions) are granted electricity up to 6000 units/year & water up to 336 Kls/year.
The District Judge cadre is granted 8000 units per year of Electricity & 420 Kls per year of water on government expenditure.

Telephone Allowances and Gadgets

Residential landline and broadband facility up to ₹ 1500 for District Judge and ₹ 1000 for Civil judges.
The provision to purchase a mobile handset for a District Judge is up to ₹ 30000, and the Civil Judge is ₹ 20000, which can be replaced once every 3 years.
Office telephone includes an STD facility with 1500 calls for PDJ and CMM, 1000 calls for ADJ, Senior Civil Judge, and CJM, and 750 calls per year.

Medical Allowance and Reimbursement

Fixed medical allowance of ₹ 3000 per month to all the judicial officers.
Judicial Officers, including pensioners/family pensioners, are entitled to consultations/treatment in the Government/impaneled private hospitals/pathological labs and seek reimbursement by submitting the bills per the usual procedure.
Credit letters can be issued in an emergency in case the judicial officer or their family is urgently admitted to a private hospital instead of opting for reimbursement.

House Building Advance

The advance may be extended to the judicial officers if they want to build a house on their existing land, purchase a new plot, outright purchase, or expand their current household.

Children Education Allowance

Children’s Education Allowance is provided to Judicial Officers @₹2250/- per month and hostel subsidy @₹ 6750/- per month, whichever is lower.
This facility is available for 2 children up to class XII.

Higher Qualification Allowance

The Judicial Officers are entitled to 3 advance increments for acquiring higher qualifications, i.e., post-graduation in law, and one more advance increment if they acquire a Doctorate in Law.

Specific Location Allowance

Hill location/tough area allowance of ₹ 5000/month is given to the judicial officer posted in a hilly tough location.
Risk allowance is provided to the Judicial Officers working in Jammu & Kashmir and insurgency-affected North East States at the same rate as the Civilian Government officials working in those locations.

Newspaper and Magazine Allowance

Reimbursement for newspapers and magazines of ₹ 1000/- for District Judges (2 newspapers and 2 magazines) and ₹ 700/- for Civil Judges (2 newspapers and 1 magazine).

Other Allowances

Apart from the abovementioned, judicial officers are entitled to dearness allowance, robe allowance, and transfer grant.
